Yoga Workshop with Cat November 6 at 1:30 pm

Upward Spiral: Twisting for a happy spine and healthy body

Sunday November 6 at 1:30 pm; Free Guests. Open to the Public.

Email me, lmuscarella@mountauburnclub.com to RSVP.

Seven Chakras

Chakras are our energy centers. They are the openings for life energy to flow into and out of our aura. Their function is to vitalize the physical body and to bring about the development of our self-consciousness. They are associated with our physical, mental and emotional interactions.

Do you feel like your body needs a dose of relaxation and rejuvenation? A twisting yoga practice has a myriad of benefits that can improve your posture and jumpstart your health. Benefits of a twisting practice include, but are not limited to:

  • Cleansing and massaging the internal organs
  • Improves digestion
  • Stimulates the seven chakras
  • Stretches and strengthens the spine
  • Improves respiratory function
  • Helps one find focused presence of mind, emotional balance, and stress relief

This mixed levels workshop offers something for everyone! In this two-hour practice we will explore a wide variety of standing, seated, and supine twists. Come take advantage of this rare opportunity to get your twist on with Cat Murcek, who recently relocated to New York City.

Catherine “Cat” Murcek Bio: Cat is a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance and also a professional modern dancer. Her Yoga raining with Natasha Rizopoulos influences her teaching method by combining the breath-with-movement aspect of Astanga yoga and the attention to alignment and sequencing from Iyengar yoga. Being a dancer—and having studied the body for more than half her life—she brings a refreshing and illuminating sense of body awareness through movement as well as within each and every asana. Her goal is for each of her students to learn something new in every class and to find that perfect balance between effort and ease throughout their practice. Catherine also enjoys traveling, teaching dance to children and dabbling in music.

A Taste of Spain October 13

Our September 22 Wine Tasting

Join us Thursday, October 13 at 6:30 pm on the third floor for A Taste of Spain. Enjoy a complimentary tasting and appetizers by Chef Julio.

Wine List

Bordeje NV Macabeo Cava (Campo de Borja)  The Campo de Borja wine zone (named after the Borgia family) lies in the Aragón region in north east Spain.  It is known for churning out tons of inexpensive, fruity wines made from the Garnacha grape.  Since the 1986 induction into the U.N., the Cava D.O. can be used not just in the Penedes wine zone of Catalunia but in Aragón, Navarra, Rioja and even the Basque region.

Balnea ’10 Verdejo (Rueda, Galicia)  This is a smooth, friendly style of Verdejo with green fruit aromas and flavors highlighted by apple and melon. Toss in some lime, peach, minerality, nice acidity and a smooth finish.

Benito Santos ’10 Albarino ‘Igrexario de Saiar’ (Rias Baixas)  This Albarino is lemon in color with green tints.  Intense aromas of peach, white flowers and somewhat ripe tropical fruits emerge in the bouquet.  As it enters your mouth, it has a smooth and silky feel, with an intense acidity, which is fresh and pleasant at the same time.

Verasol ’09 MCS’J Monastrell (Jumilla)  This wine has an intriguing and fun label. It says Monastrell, which is the grape variety; otherwise known as Mourvedre in France.  It is not 100% Monastrell though. The “MCS” stands for Monastrell, Carignane, and Syrah, and the “J” stands for Jumilla.

Bodegas Dehesa El Carrascal ’05 ‘Almarina’ Syrah (Almansa)  This Syrah displays a meaty and peppery quality not unlike the famous Crozes-Hermitage reds of the northern Rhone valley.  Almansa is a small denominated wine zone in the eastern corner of Castile-La Mancha in central Spain.  It borders the Levante regions Jumilla and Yecla, which produce similarly strong red wines.

Bodegas Ondarre ’04 Rioja Reserva (Rioja, Spain)  The Ondarre Rioja has been a best seller for quite some time. It tastes amazing.  “Black cherry, licorice, smoke, tobacco and tar notes mingle in this firm, lively red. Maturing now, but shows balance and length. Still fresh, this brings you back for another sip. Drink now through 2016.” – 91 points, Wine Spectator, Top 100 of 2010

To RSVP email me at lmuscarella@mountauburnclub.com. I’m looking forward to seeing you there. (Guests welcome!)
